Lobito Corridor: a new milestone for the Congolese railway link

Industry watch · 26 August 2026
According to APCSC, the DRC and Mota-Engil Africa signed a collaboration agreement and railway concession for the Dilolo–Sakania axis on 26 August 2026. The agency outlines its role in monitoring and evaluating project commitments.
CPL’s editorial perspective
CPL’s editorial reading focuses on rail within a multimodal operation: transport to the terminal, service availability, road interfaces and transit documents. A signed concession does not by itself constitute reserved freight capacity or a guaranteed transit time. A concrete shipment requires a distinction between the corridor’s development plans and services actually available on the intended shipping date.
